Jon Hemstreet, M.D.

Medical Consultant

Dr. Jon Hemstreet was born in Opelika, Alabama and raised in a small town in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. Dr. Hemstreet went on to graduate cum laude from Duke University. His undergraduate education included a year of study at the Sorbonne in Paris. While in Paris, Dr. Hemstreet became interested in medicine as a career through his volunteer work with Doctors of the World.  Dr. Hemstreet returned to study medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans where he received the Internal Medicine Award for Excellence in 1999. Dr Hemstreet completed his residency in family medicine in Asheville North Carolina at Mountain Area Health Education Center, an affiliate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. 

Dr. Hemstreet moved to Florida where he worked for Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, FL and served as a volunteer faculty member at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. For his work with medical students Dr. Hemstreet received special commendation for teaching excellence from the residency program director.
